Yes, you can bring the design world into your own home. Today I'm focusing on this chic, modern style. Honestly there is no total style for one room. Almost every  decor has a little bit of this and a little bit of that, that brings the whole design together.

This one is made up of my interpretation of chic and modern flava. Yes, interpretation. Sidenote art is filled with interpretation and interior design home decor is a form of art. Keep reading to learn what makes this look a chic decor style:

Elegant - This space is well curated, with beautiful simplicity

  • note the brass accessories, the bar cart, arms of the chairs, legs of the coffee table and the light fixture. The brassy gold tone brings in the elegant aesthetic for this living room.

Fashionable - Everything about this space is “fashionable”. I mean if this living room was a whole outfit, Sista-gurl rocking it would get a high five and a “Yassssss Hunty” from me.

  • I’ll start with the area rug. This black and white polka dot area rug is good anchor for the velvet rich green sofa. Black and white patterns pair well with rich solid colors, such as red, blue, orange and bright pinks to name a few others.

  • Velvet makes a statement in any space. It has always been seen as a statement piece. Now add a rich jewel tone velvet green. The texture and color are both swoon worthy.

  • Did you notice the soft pink circular ottomans under the television? They are a subtle soft pink. They add a little softness to the space with all of the other bold colors. This creates a great balance. These blush pink ottomans would be comprable to a silk soft pink camisole under a beautiful deep green suit. It's just a hint of pink, but that little hint is that you need.

  • The wallart. Line art is a popular trend, one I admire. Your wallart is something that can be changed out easily so it's OK if it's a trendy piece that goes with the times. The line art is simple and modern. It doesn't compete with the patterned area rug or the other bold colors within this space.
