Free spirit easy going go a lover of natural fabrics and colors. Does this sound like you? Did this bedroom design catch your eye? If you answered yes then Bohemian decor may be the perfect style for your home or perhaps a room in your home.
Bohemian style pillows
Let's talk about how easy it is to bring in Bohemian style into your home. There are many ways to create a Bohemian look and because it can get a little confusing I recommend creating a concept or mood board. Similar to this one.
Here are a few basic "boho decor” ideas that I included in this space. It really is simple if you stick to your plan(concept/mood board)
Your bed and bedding. One of the best beds for boho decor is a platform bed, daybeds also work well. If you are going for a neutral or earthtone color palette a nice wood bed will work well. You’ll find modern boho beds come in a variety of different styles and price ranges. the most popular materials for platform beds are rattan and wood. If you stick with one of these to materials you will be on the right track.
Bedding neutral or white bedding is optimal. This is because you will use many textures, colors and material throughout this space, your bedding can be somewhat of a blank canvas. I recomend you use a solid color bedding and really dress up your bed with nice pillows. You want a variety of textures, cable knit, crochet, silks, woven, etc. Look for various colors from your color palette. Geometric prints, color blocks and fringe on decorative pillows is what you will want to look for those finishing touches on your bed.
Seating it not only gives you a place to relax and unwind, it’s also a way to bring in a statement pieces such as a chair or bench seat ir ottoman like the ones shown in the image above. Whichever seating decor you chose, allow it to bring texture, color and/or character into the room.
Bohemian Style Ottomans
An area rug can be the a statement piece or it can play in the background, giving balance to your curated space. It is an opportunity to tie in all the colors in your palette. It is also ok to simply pick one color and have a solid colored rug. So don’t feel like you have to have a multi color rug. it’s not a hard rule for bohemian style. With an earth tone palette such as this one, a solid rug in whites or earthy browns will work well. Best rug materials are woven, wool or shag.
Area Rugs
Bohemian is considered eclectic by nature and some may say there are "no rules" however if you would like a specific curated look for your own boho bedroom I do recomend following the design guidelines as close as posible. It is important to pay close attention so scale and balance in this space as well as any other space you style. Do not rush the process if at all possible. Take your time. It is ok if you take 4 weeks to 6 months to a year to complete this look. Go at a pace that works well for you and your budget. Boho decor can be minimal or over the top. There is truly room in this theme for creativity. Boho decor mixes all sorts of colors, patterns, textures, and embellishments. Use this desgin as a guide take your time and you will create a room you can be totally in love with
