A Gathering Space
The details for this space
This space is designed to be intimate and cozy and the fire place makes it great for chilly nights. Of course the windows are awesome for those beautiful summer breezes. I designed this space with plenty seating for a family game night, movie night or relaxing with friends and wine. The soft buttery leather seating is not only beautiful but provides a true element of comfort and relaxation. In a cozy room comfortable seating is a must have. The sofa’s dark brown color pairs well with the deep green ship lapped walls. It really is an accent against the green. To stay on the cozy intimate side I anchored this space in rich deep hues. Dark browns and greens are colors that we find in nature, which is one of the prettiest color palettes we have.
One of the important tips I will mention when purchasing your sofa is to get accurate measurements of your space(where the sofa will go). Because leather sofas come in a variety for styles and sizes it is important to take into account the environment and people who will be using it. Their height, weight and what positions they enjoy sitting in on the sofa. Also think about the temperature of the space. Leather may not be a comfortable choice for a room that stays consistently warm or hot .
I personally enjoy laying on my side and throw my legs up on the sofa. I also like for my head to rest on the arm of the sofa. For me this means I need firm (I hate body indents) but soft sofa, moderate arm height so my head is well adjusted and good seating depth so I have space to curl my legs or stretch out a bit. Also take in consideration how many people use the space and how often. Sometimes it's more cost effective to invest more for a quality long lasting sofa. A more affordable but low quality sofa may have shorter lifespan.

I paired the sofa with a beautiful textured oversized chair. The chairs light oatmeal color is a good contrast amongst the dark green walls and brown sofas. It is perfect in an ideal space for casual gathering and complete relaxation. The clean-lined silhouettes that easily blend with contemporary or transitional styles. The fun thing about complimenting colors is there are so many of them to choose from. I also added additional seating with two rattan chairs on both sides of the fire place. If you are looking for more seating for guests incorporating extra chairs into the design is a good option.
This space is perfect for a cozy night in with family, friends or just relax with yourself. There is so much more to cover in the process of designing this virtual living area. It's too much for one post. So I am breaking this down into multiple posts. I don't want to miss anything. More importantly I don't want you to miss anything. Make sure you are on our mailing list to be notified of part 2 of this post.
I will go over coffee tables and why I selected this one. I'll also be covering accessories, pillows, and color selection. I promise you don't want to miss part 2.
